Jacob's Well Natural Area

Considering some of the gems found in our area of Texas, there are many to be found right her in our county. One of those gems is Jacob’s Well Natural Area, a gorgeous little waterhole that is open to the public from 8am to 6pm daily. If you’re up for a hike or a fun day out in nature, this is an ideal place to visit in Dripping Springs, Texas. Take a look at the next area. If you only need to hike, you don’t require a reservation. A reservation is only required for water access. It is however open normal hours with no entrance limited currently. Swimming spots at Jacob’s Well fill up quickly so be sure to book your reservation earlier.

This iconic spring of Texas Hill Country is protected by 96 acres of land surrounding it. It has conservation easements created to restore and protect all the conservation values of the land. Jacob’s Well Natural Area was private owned land until recently when it was transferred to Hays County in a bid to create new opportunities for public recreational access coupled with experimental learning of the environment and water.

Natural Wonders and Experiences

In Jacob’s Well Natural Area, you’ll find the Nature Center, the famous Artesian Spring known as Jacob’s Well and other natural wonders. Here, you can choose to hike with your family and enjoy sightseeing or you can book a reservation if you and your family want to enjoy water access. The Artesian Spring is beautiful with crystal clear waters inviting you to dive in at any time.

The beautiful walking trail is filled with natural habitats and indigenous trees along the path. It provides you with a chance to relax and unwind as you walk and breathe the fresh air in the park. There is no fee required to enter the natural area. The only fee required is when booking a reservation to swim. All the other activities including hiking, geocaching, birding, picnicking, and photography are permitted during park hours. Learn more here.
